The column tries to argue that we must abandon water disposal of waste because we are overwhelming the capacity of the natural system and progressively destroying our second-most necessary resource (after air)

I don’t know why we don’t save it up and use it in missile projectiles
when fighting wars. If we told Iran’s president what we’ll do
if they don’t stop trying to create nuclear energy, he might shut
down the whole operation. Imagine the assorted waste of your
number one enemy smashing into the side of your home or office
building . . we could then truly sport bumper stickers “War is Crap.”
Seriously . . it doesn’t make sense to me either, funneling waste into
the ecosystems - the fish we eat and the habitat of thousands of other
life . . maybe it’s pure laziness or greed or both since we can go to
the moon and Mars, we can do this internet thing, all these feats
that people wouldn’t believe 100 years ago . . but we still don’t have
the basics down pat.
I wonder what happened to the protest I witnessed at a county commission
meeting a few months ago, against the Bayou la Batre Porterville
plant? . . you say no one objected at a recent meeting in BLB . .
