"Where’s the progress in that?”

An easy, fast buck. Anybody can rap, even me, but jazz, well, that
requires the good the true and the beautiful - two too many
for most who scribble and slang werds.

"They like their alcohol . . "

Yeah, who has ever heard of MADS ( Mother's Against Dope Smokers) or
a news report, " A stoned driver caused a major accident on I-10 this
morning . . "

LOL! Dude, you ain't right! Hilarious!

I know an older African-American gentleman who once told me: "Fifty years ago we all wanted to be like Miles, Dizzy and Coltrane. They dressed classy, were erudite, thoughtful, intellectual. Now I see these kids that all want to be 50-Cent, Snoop Dog and any idiot with a gun and ten children with ten different women. Where's the progress in that?"

Steve-

Magically engineering society and culture is nearly impossible. All you can hope to do is reach like-minded folks, enjoy each other's company and help facilitate your common goals. People must come to art in their own way.

"And we all know how incredibly socially-oriented Mobilians are. They like their alcohol and they love their hobnobbing. See and be seen."

You're absolutely right. That pretty much sums it up. So, could we make it so the bands (not the fans) are a social scene in itself above all others?
