The South has a curse of not looking at the big picture when it comes to development. When my brother was in Minneapolis, one thing that he noted was that when the city saw an area that had the potential to explode with industry or businesses, they went ahead and built a four lane highway out to the area. There were places in the middle of nowhere around Minneapolis that had these huge roadways, but they were looking at the big picture.
